Roma fans will greatly miss 'Il Capitano' after 19 years of service to the Italian club. After proudly leading club and country he has finally announced his retirement.
Phillip Lahm
Lahm was captain of Germany and Bayern Munich. He played his last fixture against Freiburg and, after 667 matches and no red cards he has decided to step down.
Xabi Alonso
The Spaniard also played his last professional game against Bundesliga side Freiburg. The midfielder has won everything at club level, as well as defending the Spanish national team.
Dirk Kuyt
At the ripe old age of 36, Kuyt retires by lifting the Eredivise trophy with Feyenoord. At Liverpool he showed his best, playing alongside Alonso at Anfield. With the Dutch national team he reached the World Cup final in 2010.
Frank Lampard
After 21 years as a professional footballer, the English midfielder says goodbye. West Ham, Chelsea, Manchester City and New York City have had the pleasure to see him play, but the highlight of his career was the Champions League trophy he won with the Blues.
Ze Roberto
The Brazilian powerhouse is retiring at the age of 42, having made his profesional debut in 1994. He has played over 1000 games for Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich, among others, as well as achieving success with Brazil.
